First doctor's visit

Ivan went for his first doctor's visit since we've been home. He received four more vaccine's. It was nice because we had the Russian version (not the translated version) of Ivan's medical reports so we just handed them to our doctor, she translated them for us and wrote in all the vaccine's he's had so far. This report was from his birth and visits at the orphanage so it was very helpful. He did very well considering. Everything seems to be normal and he's right on track. He weighs 23 1/2 pounds!!! He's gained almost 4 pounds since he's been home! HOLY COW! He's 31 1/2 inches long now. He's grown 3 inches since his 12 month check up. He goes back in three weeks to get the rest of his vaccinations to catch him up. We found out today that he received his tuberculosis (or BCG in other countries) vaccination which means he will always have a positive TB skin test. He'll have to have chest x-rays done instead of the skin test. I thought that was a pretty good thing to know. I know I'd probably freak out if he got a positive TB test the first time if we hadn't known this information.

After the doctor's visit we went out to lunch. He was able to meet a couple more friends that hadn't seen him yet. Of course he was a total ham. He cracks me up because he gets so much attention any where we go and he loves it. For Valentine's Day we went out to dinner and he kept flirting with the ladies at the table next to ours. He wouldn't sit forward in his high chair because he kept staring, smiling and laughing at everyone at the next table. It was hilarious. We all spent the entire dinner playing with Ivan. They might as well of been sitting with us. He loves the ladies. We're in deep trouble when he gets older! ;o)

Tomorrow's the big day. He gets to meet a bunch of people, friends and family. I think he's going to have a good time. Hopefully, he doesn't have much of a reaction to his shots today. I hadn't thought of that until just now. We'll keep the IB handy just in case.

He's started making that annoying "awww" sound with the added pulling back the arm or pushing you away. You know the one... it's that noise you hear other children make when they aren't getting their way and you look at the parents like "are you going to let him get away with that???" It's funny how when you don't have children you think you know exactly how to handle things and if it were "your kid you'd know what to do." Then when it really is your child making that "Give me what I want" sound you haven't a clue how to react, especially when he's only been in your custody for 5 weeks and you're still bonding. Hopefully, it's just a faze and he'll stop doing it soon. We aren't responding to it so hopefully he'll give up.

Other than that things are going great! Ivan is still adjusting very well. He still prefers his Mama to anyone else which is what we expected. Makes me feel good!! :o))

I'm off to go clean house while Ivan is taking his nap. I'll update with photos from the party tomorrow or Sunday.

Have a great weekend!!

Oh boy! Do I ever know that sound! But to tell you the truth, we were so excited the first time our DD did it because we knew she was adjusting just fine!
